Job description

Remedy Recruitment Group are currently seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to work within a Youth Offending Team for a Local Authority based in West London.

Job Purpose

  1. To provide effective and high quality case management and supervision for young offenders in accordance with National Standards for Youth Justice Services
  1. To work in partnership with all agencies relating to young offenders and their carers within the Youth Offending Team and externally in order to deliver youth justice services in accordance with relevant legislation and guidance
  1. To work towards the reduction in the level of youth crime in the borough having regard to the welfare of the child or young person and the protection of the public.
  1. To conduct assessments of young people referred to the Youth Offending Team, including assessment of the risk of re-offending and of harm to self or others.
  1. To work effectively in partnership with Children's Services and other relevant agencies in pursuit of service objectives, including the sharing of information, and collaborative working to safeguard children and young people from harm, protect the public and promote the well-being of children and young people.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of working with children and young people, or offenders in a statutory or voluntary setting,
  • Knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework that applies to young offenders, including the Children Act 1989, the Children Act 2004, the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008.
  • Knowledge of the physical, social and psychological needs of children and young people
  • Knowledge of the principles of effective practice with young offenders, and skills in the planning and delivery of interventions to reduce re offending, harmful behaviours and to safeguard young people from harm.

Essential Qualifications

To hold a qualification in Social Work or its equivalent and be registered with the Health and Social Council (HCPC) or a Diploma in Probation Studies
