Job description

Remedy Recruitment Group are currently seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to work within an Adult Community Team for a Local Authority based in West London.

Job Purpose

  1. Demonstrate and ensure high standards and probity with Council policy, standing orders and the law
  1. Form robust and effective working relationships with colleagues across the Council and in partner organisations
  1. Work corporately and in line with overall Council objectives to enable the breaking down of departmental barriers and the delivery of the Council's improvement agenda
  1. Promote equality of opportunity and recognition of diversity in the delivery of services and in employment practice
  2. In working with vulnerable residents their families and carers to use a range of therapeutic approaches in your work to enhance the coping skills, independence, choice and control of the vulnerable resident, their family and carers.
  3. To take account of life history, loss and grief, goals and aspirations of vulnerable residents, their families and carers, recognising where there is conflict and working constructively to help families develop the strength and skills to resolve their own issues.

Knowledge and Experience required

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant social services legislation, particularly 1990 NHS and Community Care Act and how this relates to the statutory role of social care.
  • Knowledge, understanding of human development, attachment theory and working through conflict to a satisfactory and agreed resolution.
  • Knowledge, understanding of and commitment to Personalisation ensuring individuals have maximum choice and control, are supported to take risks which enable them to maintain their chosen lifestyle.
  • Knowledge, understanding of and commitment to the governance of Social Work and to apply the HCPC standards of conduct, performance and ethnics, including a passion for achieving excellent social work practice.
  • An understanding of the importance of performance data and a willingness to contribute to the improvement of practice and systems to enhance team performance, including the use of IT in the collation of data and recording activity.
  • Knowledge, understanding of the needs of discriminated against groups and the ability to ensure that the team's services are appropriately delivered to meet their needs.
  • Knowledge, understanding of and commitment to safeguarding and how it ensures a vulnerable resident can maximise their choice and control over their chosen lifestyle.
