Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant

Primary school Lambeth

Remedy Education are working with a primary school in Lambeth who cater for students with a variety of students including those Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH) and behavioural challenges. The school we work with take on a friendly and nurturing approach to cater for needs such as ADHD, learning difficulties, ASD, behaviour challenges, looked after children (LAC) and more.

The school are looking for experienced teaching assistants who understand the methods and techniques used to over come challenging barriers which occur amongst children with SEMH. The sucsesful candidate must understand to ensure a safe and calm atmosphere is maintained at the school. The role will be suited to you if you have had experience with students in a school setting or in a youth work setting where children come from disadvantaged/ challenging backgrounds.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Work closely with other staff and teachers to maintain the behaviour of students using positive support.
  • Ensure pupils are supported regarding any concerns
  • Build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Maintain contact with teachers, management and the office regarding any events and issues which arise.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs.
  • Must have experience working with children in a school setting, youth work or similar setting.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of safeguarding and positive handling.
  • Subject to Enhanced DBS Check and satisfactory references.
