The Primary School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and qualified Learning Mentor to support the social, emotional and mental health well-being of our wonderful pupils who maybe experiencing difficulties in these areas.

The Role:

As a Learning Mentor, you must have a working knowledge of SEMH and associated difficulties, child development and methods of setting realistic programmes for disaffected and underachieving children.

Your role will include; one to one mentoring and support to improve academic progress and learning, liaising closely with colleagues, families and outside agencies and supporting in the monitoring of behaviour and attendance of the identified groups.

The Person:

As a Learning Mentor, you will be required to work flexibly, using your initiative to find solutions and overcome challenges.

Working with teaching staff and the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion you will be responsible for assisting in the comprehensive assessment of children and their needs.

The Learning Mentor role may include using strategies to:

  • Improve learning and raise attainment.
  • Work both in and out of the classroom on a 1:1 or small group basis.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion
  • Raise standards of behaviour.
  • Provide both learning and nurture activities and support.

You will take the lead responding effectively to any behaviour incidents, drawing up individual action plans and role modelling positive behaviour to build and sustain a positive ethos on the playground.

The Learning Mentor will work directly with identified individual or groups of pupils to help overcome barriers to learning, improve behaviour and raise achievement.
