Job description
We are currently looking for Level 3 qualified Nursery Teacher to start in January 2018 with previous nursery experience, in our lovely, friendly nursery in Lambeth. We follow Montessori methods and neo-humanistic education.
The candidates must have enthusiasm, passion to care and educate children between 1 to 5 year olds. Level 3 or above qualifications in Early Years (e.g., Children and Young People's Workforce, Early Years Educator) is essential. Training will be provided on Safeguarding, Food Hygiene, Behaviour Management, SEN, etc. Therefore a passion to learn and develop within the role is also necessary.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Nursery Teacher will have the following responsibilities and duties:
- To adhering to the policies and procedures of Sunrise Nursery and compliance with the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation and within the guidelines of Ofsted and the National Standards
- To ensure confidentiality is maintained in the nursery
- To provide all aspects of care and supervision to children with regard to their physcial, emotional and intellectual needs.
- To contribute to the planning and preparation of activities, to meet children's individual needs, liasing with parents and negotiating working targets to ensure effective communication within the nursery.
- To maintain development records and make written notes based on observations
- To report and monitor accidents and incidents
- To attend all staff meetings as arranged by the nursery room leaders/managers and contribute relevant ideas

- To carry out any other ressonable duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Principal
In general
- To contribute to good standard of hygiene, cleanliness, care, preparation and the maintenance of classrooms, equipment and carry out laundry duties
- To positively manage children's behaviour
- To be a role model for other staff and children
- To make creative and learning displays of children's work around the room
- To supervise mealtimes
- To offer all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background; in particular, challenging situations where racism or discrimination is displayed
- to be aware of emergency and fire evacuation procedures
Qualifications and Skills
Qualifications which are essential :
- Level 3 childcare qualification (such as Children and Young People's workforce, or Early Years Educator)
Experience essential - experience of working in a nursery for at least a year.
Skills
- passion, enthusiasm, drive and motivation to work with chidren and the desire to develop skills and knowledge further.
