Job description

If you are an experienced Social Worker committed to evidence based practice, this could be the ideal role for you. 

We need a Qualified Social Worker for a Family Support & Child Protection Service based in Essex. You will have previously worked in a long term Children & Families team dealing with child protection and core assessments. 

Main duties:
• To manage a caseload of service users requiring assessment of their needs, carry out Initial and core assessments and investigations and co-ordinating support packages as necessary.
• Maintaining accurate written and computerised data of intervention in a timely manner.
• To ensure that Looked After Children and children on the Child Protection register are well supported, visited and cared for in accordance with good practice and statutory requirements
• Attending team meetings and sharing ideas and best practice.
• Preparing for and attending supervision meetings.
• Participate in the duty rota system, as agreed.
• Assess the needs and risks for children and identify actions appropriate to meet needs and address risk.
• Ensure child protection and care plans are implemented and reviewed.
• Ability to maintain clear boundaries with clients and colleagues.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent.
• HCPC Registration as a Registered Social Worker
• Recent experience of communicating with children of all ages and working in partnership with parents and/or carers.
• Experience in planning activities and programmes for children, young people and parents.
• Knowledge of Court work in relation to Child Care matters and have an understanding of the legal process.
• Knowledge of current legislation pertinent to Child Protection (i.e. CA1989, CA 2004, Guidance and Regulations, Every Child Matters.
• Experience in Child protection work, especially Section 47 investigations and assessments.
• Knowledge of therapeutic methods of working with dysfunctional families and/or families in crisis.
