Job description

A Special School in the South East London area are looking for Learning Support staff with experience in working with pupils with autism and SEN needs. Initially the school are looking to appoint on an ongoing temporary basis, but this role could become permanent for the correct candidate.

The school are looking for a long term, committed staff. The school are looking for passionate and experienced Learning Mentors and Learning Support Assistants who have have the right knowledge and experiences and a good understanding of the needs of autistic and SEN pupils. The correct candidate will be supporting students with Autism and SEN statements and will be responsible for the support of behaviour, learning and progress of these students.

This school specialises in autism and SEN and supports pupils aged from 11 - 16. They use a creative and nurturing approach and focus on life skills. The school looks to develop the students both academically and also socially.

The school are looking for people who have worked in a similar setting and have something new to offer. To work in this environment, you must have excellent Behaviour Management skills and have the patience to support young people from challenging backgrounds.

The position is to work with and mentor the young individual, give guidance, counselling and support, as well as supporting their behaviour and learning.
