Learning Mentor - SEN School/Alternative Provision - Enfield - January 2018 Start

This progressive SEN/EBD School in Enfield have taken over a small alternative learning provision, and they are looking for a Learning Mentor to join their small specialist team, teaching and supporting learners with emotional and behavioural difficulties who struggle with all areas of learning and social integration.

The School:

My client are a Specialist Sports College looking to hire a SEMH Teaching Assistant to start a new role in January 2018. The school are warm, welcoming and genuinely caring, they provide 'Learning for Life' for pupils aged 4 - 19 with special educational needs. The school believe that to truly flourish children must feel valued, the focus on what each child can achieve and celebrate their successes.

The school has ten bright and airy classrooms, as well as specialist rooms for Science, Food Technology and Art, where their dedicated teachers and support staff help pupils to become effective learners and valued members of the school community. They also have wonderfully stimulating outdoor play and sports facilities, a Library, Gymnasium, Drama Room, School Garden and well-equipped Medical Suite.

Candidate Specification:

To be a Learning Mentor in this school it is important that you are calm and collective in challenging situation. This provision is a new venture for the school and you must be able to work well in a team and respect and value the different experiences, ideas and backgrounds others can bring to work and to the teams. You must have full working knowledge and experience of implementing learning and therapeutic approaches along with a good understanding of child development and learning processes.

For this Learning Mentor role must be confident and experienced as you will be expected to lead and support other staff, the school are looking for 2 learning mentors and ideally would like them to have either a psychology degree or to have experience with speech and language therapy.

  • £70.00 to £90.00 per day

  • Speech and Language Experience (desirable)
  • Significant relevant experience as a Learning Mentor (essential)
  • Previous experience in a school, working with young people with SEMH and learning difficulties (desirable)
