Job description

Head of DSP - Greenwich - September 2022

Remedy Education are looking for a Head of DSP (Designated Special Provision) to join our secondary school based in Greenwich.

The DSP is a special provision within our school which caters for female students with moderate learning difficulties, the majority of whom have EHCPs. Our approach to the academic, social and personal development is a holistic one, which sees the students in the provision catered for in a personalised way, at the same time as including them in the full life of the wider school. We firmly believe that it is our role to see our young people become independent in their later lives, and that a true model of inclusion is blends high expectations with a tailored curriculum and pastoral provision. We are seeking an outstanding practitioner to lead our DSP under the guidance of our SENCO.

In this role you will promote a culture of high expectation in both behaviour and achievement. You will design and implement a tailored curriculum which will meet the needs of our learners and be able to monitor and analyse assessment data and to implement 'early help' interventions to boost and accelerate the progress of individual students. This role will include leading a team of staff (both teaching and support) and developing colleagues through a clever blend of challenge and support, of encouragement and performance management.

You will need to:
* be familiar with best practice in teaching students with specific learning and special educational needs.
* have experience of teaching students with specific learning and special educational needs in a secondary school setting.
* have experience of leading other people
* be able to liaise with a range of staff across the school, and to disseminate best practice to them.
* be able to maintain accurate and confidential documentation.
* build good links with other schools and outside agencies.
* have a good degree & evidence of further study and QTS
