Job description

Remedy Recruitment Group are currently seeking an experienced Group Manager to work within a Youth Offending Team for a Local Authority based in East London.

Job Purpose

  • Responsible for the delivery of a youth offending service which ensures that children, young people, families and communities are effectively safeguarded. This includes using statutory interventions within the criminal justice and social care frameworks as appropriate.
  • Directly responsible for the leadership and management of the team ensuring the delivery of high quality, fully integrated services to children, young people and their families in line with the requirements of national legislation (including government regulation, local policy and best practice).
  • Provide direct oversight and decision-making on highly complex cases within the youth offending service and to take a lead on key areas such as harmful practices (gangs and serious youth violence / CSE / Prevent) and whole family work.
  • To work with the whole family in order to ensure that the young person is supported in diverting away from offending behaviour.
  • Responsible for the HR management, performance and resource allocation for the team effectively managing, motivating, developing and empowering staff to enable the delivery of a high quality, productive service to achieve the Council's service objectives.
  • Directly responsible for ensuring that the multi-disciplinary team delivers high performance standards, fulfils its statutory obligations particularly in relation to national standards and achieves the targets associated with both performance (currently National Indicators, Preventing/Reducing Offending) and quality of service (all risk assessments completed and checked, all intervention and risk plans completed and checked, service users fully participate in the delivery of their service etc).
  • To manage the efficient operation of the multi-disciplinary youth offending team in order to meet the strategic objectives of the YJB plan:
  1. Reduce the number of children in the youth justice system
  2. Reduce re offending by children in the youth justice system
  3. Improve the safety and well being of children in the youth justice system
  4. Improve outcomes for children in the youth justice system

About you

  • Experience of working as a manager in a Local Authority is essential
  • Enhnaced DBS
  • Full compliance required
