To undertake regular, periodic inspections of empty / void properties to enable accurate billing and recovery of Business Rates and Council Tax.

To update the core revenues systems accurately (unless directed to provide outcomes of visits on a form only, to be updated by another party onto the core systems), with information received via the telephone, in written correspondence, or face to face, ensuring that all updates made conform with the team's quality targets.

Respond positively to basic or routine enquiries made by customers contacting by telephone or written correspondence as a result of a visit, ensuring responses are of expected quality and in line with documented policies and work instructions.

To work with a variety of sources both internally and externally to identify properties missing from the Business Rates or Council Tax lists. This includes a rolling review of all commercial premises in the borough to ensure the current use and layout matches Valuation Office Agency records, reporting any changes required to relevant parties including the Valuation Office Agency, planning enforcement, etc. for the appropriate action.

Action all Town Planning applications / Decisions / Appeals, re-naming and numbering orders and Building Control completion reports in accordance with procedures to ensure the Council Tax list is accurate (with regards to new builds, splits / mergers and demolitions alongside resolving address queries). Ensuring accurate information recorded to aid the revenues department to update the property valuation list.

To establish contacts, building rapport, both internally and externally (managing agents, Housing Associations, etc) to facilitate tracing absconders, getting contact information or confirming occupation of debtors.
