Job description

** Learning Mentor

** Pupil Referral Unit - SEMH/SEN Support

** Full-time, term-time only

** East London

Are you looking for a new and exciting challenge in supporting secondary-aged students with behavioural difficulties?

Are you passionate about mentoring young people, helping them progress and supporting their needs?

Remedy Education in support of our client Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) is currently seeking a confident and pro-active Learning Mentor to join their team on a full-time basis.

This is a great opportunity to work with young people who just need a positive role model and are looking for guidance through teen years and schooling experience.

About the PRU

The PRU works with groups of pupils who have found it challenging in mainstream schools or who have complex special needs. There is a large and experienced staff team working together to maximise pupil progress and achievement.

The site is a friendly and fun place to work and there are a variety of lessons and activities taking place on a daily basis. These, along with the dynamic and supportive team of staff have proved to help the young people make changes which enable them to be successful in their education.

You will have the opportunity to work both independently, as well as a member of a specialist SEN team.

If you enjoy working with young people, have initiative and are a good team player we would welcome your application.

Please note: Applicants with experience in coaching sports or fitness are strongly advised to apply. This is often a fantastic way to bond/build rapport with the students in the school as it will be a common interest.

What is required?

  • A passion for supporting/working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs, i.e. SEMH, learning difficulties, Autism etc.
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant / Mentor / Tutor
