Commercial Building Surveyor

£25-£35ph

An experienced Building Surveyor required to provide Commercial public building surveying services, providing a professional Building Surveying design and contract management service to internal and external clients; by delivering, controlling and directing all construction related projects in a commercial and customer focused way, which achieves programmes, meets performance targets, and meets the Councils Corporate Objectives.

Provide Building Surveying professional services to internal and external clients.

Development of briefs, design, specification, preparation of contract documents, procurement, supervision and project management of Building Surveying projects.

Prepare design solutions that utilise the best practice and most suitable equipment, materials and concepts that achieve efficient, sustainable and cost effective solutions.

Continually monitor, review and modify working practices to ensure that they are carried out in a commercial manner to meet corporate targets to generate efficiency's and achieve 'Best Value' for the Council.

To lead in the programming of construction related projects and to assist in the programming of projects for multi-disciplined design teams to ensure completion within budget and to meet programme targets.

Prepare estimates, obtain and assess quotations, monitor works, agree interim valuations, contractual claims and final accounts with contractors.

Prepare fee bids in consultation with PBS.

Carry out planned maintenance inspections; prepare reports and estimates for recommended works, based on a 5 year rolling programme.

Ensure designs meet current relevant technical standards and statutory documents and are carried out to comply with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and any other Health and Safety legislation.

Ensure that all documents and drawings prepared are to a high standard, consistent and accurate.

Carry out asbestos reinspections and prepare specifications for asbestos removal in accordance with the Council's Asbestos Policy and legislation.
