Job description

Our client, Bradford Metropolitan District Council is looking for an Assistant Children'S Home Manager to join their team.

Key Purpose of Post:

In support of the Manager, ensure the home delivers a comprehensive childcare service, providing services to children and young people in a residential care setting and in some cases providing support to children and young people living within family settings, in accordance with the relevant legislation and policy. This further includes liaising with OFSTED when necessary, ensuring they are made aware of relevant issues regarding the care and welfare of the children and young people.

Supporting the manager of the home to ensure that a secure and stable environment is provided which will enable children and young people to develop their full potential. This could include working in a variety of settings.

Providing inspirational leadership and leading by example to enable staff to support children and young people by embracing Bradford's 'Model of Care' and by using these principles to improve the outcomes of children and young people to enable them to reach their full potential.

Main Responsibilities:

Ensure the home operates within the Quality Standards and Children's Homes Regulations, paying attention to detail to ensure the home is judged as 'good 'or 'better' by Ofsted. In the Registered Managers absence, the post holder will have the ability to lead the Regulation 44 monitoring visits and regulatory inspections from Ofsted, as well as supporting the staff to contribute to the process. You will also be expected to handle complaints and lead management investigations as required.

Manage the home in order to safeguard and promote the well-being of children and young people and in the absence of the manager taking the role as designated safeguarding lead for the home. Support and enable the staff to provide inspirational care, tailored to the individual needs of children and young people. Through support, encouragement and our 'Model of Care', create a stable and secure base, where children and young people have a sense of belonging and where they can begin to understand, address and work through their past experiences and present difficulties and behaviours and be able to prepare for and achieve their full potential in their futures.

Ensure the completion of, key worker tasks and the implementation of Care Plans, Positive Support Plans, Risk Assessments and Health Plans', to ensure children and young people are cared for consistently.

To monitor and audit the effectiveness of the home. This includes ensuring that all children and young people's files are kept up to date and any remedial action is taken promptly. This not only ensures information held on children and young people is accurate it also contributes to the inspection process. To manage the confidentiality of information and ensure the staff act in accordance with the Data Protection Act, when obtaining, transmitting and recording information verbally, in writing and electronically.
