Job description

We are looking for an ASD teaching assistant for a primary school in South East London to start immediately.

** ASD Teaching Assistant

** ASD/Autism/Aspergers Teaching Assistant - Non-Verbal and Verbal Children

** ASD Teaching Assistant in Early Years and Key Stage 1

** South East London - Temporary ASD Teaching Assistant role till July 2019

** ASD Teaching Assistant role suitable for recent graduate looking to become teacher or Speech & Language Therapist in the future

** Knowledge of PECS or Makaton a bonus for this ASD Teaching Assistant role

The successful ASD Teaching Assistant will be working in a medium-sized primary school with a large and well-resourced SEN provision.

The school caters for a wide range of Special Educational Needs, they have several children on the autistic spectrum and now need an additional specialist in this area to work with children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 starting immediately.

Applicants for this ASD teaching assistant role should be exceptional communicators and strong team-players, able to fit in well with the supportive staff-team at the school. We are looking for a pro-active and enthusiastic ASD Teaching assistant who can bring to the post lots of ideas and a passion for working with SEN children. Previous experience working with autism is essential for this role, ideally within a primary school environment with children aged 4-7.

Recent graduates are welcome to apply, this ASD Teaching Assistant role would be a good post for someone who is considering going on and doing teacher training or becoming Speech & Language Therapist in the future.

If you are an experienced ASD teaching assistant, you should have experience delivering specialist interventions with autistic children and/or children with speech & language difficulties.

Previous training in alternative communication techniques such as PECS or Makaton would be advantageous to the role but not essential. The school offers on-going training so an excellent placement to develop your skills for next academic year.
