ASD Teaching Assistant

Lewisham, South East London

September 2020 Start

An Outstanding Special Needs School in Lewisham is recruiting several ASD teaching assistants starting in September, for the full academic year.

The school is located across 2 sites, catering for 200 pupils aged 5-19 years old, with EHCPs for ASD and Aspergers Syndrome. As well as offering students an engaging curriculum, they also work hard to develop communication and social skills. The school is in a state-of-the-art building, offering a wealth of resources to both students and pupils.

There are opportunities throughout the school, however you must be prepared to work across the key stages. The shortlisted teaching assistants will have previous experience supporting children and young adults with SEN, ideally ASD and associated needs. Each class will have a maximum of 8 students, and you will work under the direction of the class teacher, while also using your initiative. It is imperative you can use PECs and Makaton. You must be prepared to take part in personal care, although training will be provided.

The school are looking for enthusiastic and energetic team players, who are consistent and dedicated to the students and school.

  • Previous support work within a SEN school or other child related experience
