Job description

An 'outstanding' primary school based in Lewisham are looking for an enthusiastic and creative SEN teaching assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 1 pupil with Autism and SEMH needs.

This is a highly supportive school and could be an amazing opportunity for any graduates who are aspiring Primary Teachers

The ideal teaching assistant will have a passion for working with SEND pupils and demonstrable experience of working with autism. Experience with communication skills such as PECS and Makaton is highly desirable but not essential. You will be working closely with the class teacher and SENCO in order to meet the needs of the pupil.

This is a full-time role to start ASAP on an ongoing basis.

About the role:

  • 1:1 ASD Teaching Assistant working with a Year 1 student
  • Full time, (Mon-Fri)

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience with ASD
  • Able to handle challenging behaviour
  • PECS and Makaton - not essential but highly desirable.
