KentThe Science Department consists of eleven full-time staff and one part-time staff supported by a team of six technicians. Science staff are based in one of the four colleges and teach years 7 – 11, with the possibility of teaching post-16 depending on experience. The Learning Area is superbly resourced and has access to a vast range of practical and online resources and meets on a regular basis to share ideas and good practice.
KEY STAGE 3
At KS3, students follow a two-year programme of study based around ‘Go Science’ resources. Students are team-taught in groups of 60 by 3 teachers. There is a strong focus on collaborative teaching and learning.
KEY STAGE 4
At KS4 students follow three possible pathways: Tripple Science. Practical Investigations are a core feature of all OCR programmes. Trips and visits to support learning are encouraged.
The Learning Area offers a wide range of courses at KS5 including Psychology and Applied Science; as well as Biology, Chemistry and Physics. We have strong links with King’s College London and students often undertake work experience in their Physics Department as well as many industrial links.
The School is looking for a Director of Lerning who will lead Science to the next level.
